War Images

Linocut technique
2022

Five artworks are part of the “War Images” project, created jointly with my sister Katerina Ocheredko, a member of the OCHEREDKO ART TWINS duo. These works were crafted using the black-and-white linocut technique in 2022. The series visually conveys impressions, feelings, and emotions tied to the destruction of our home. A balanced interpretation of form is combined with emotional white splashes. Each stroke represents a connection between the past and the future. This reminds us that erasing everything into a blank canvas isn’t enough.
The artwork “Kharkiv” pays tribute to the city and its heroic resilience. It captures what remains of its former self after months of deliberate destruction.
“Kyiv. Hideaway” – This piece is about my hometown, where the most precious things remain: the home where I grew up, the streets I walked with my family, loved ones. It’s the city worth protecting and preserving, a place to escape the realities of daily life. A place where the soul finds restoration.
“Dobropillya” is a contemplation on what home means to me. It’s a space to rest, gather strength, communicate with family, create art, cook, and plan my future. Home is where joy, laughter, and love reside. When this is taken from you, what’s left?
